Thoma Electric’s Adam Koble and Heather Gray Earn Engineering Registration
Press Release
September 1, 2009

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Adam Koble and Heather Gray of Thoma Electric received their State of California registration as professional engineers in electrical engineering – a top achievement in their field.
“It’s equivalent to an attorney passing the bar exam,” said Bill Thoma, president of Thoma Electric. “This is an important step in their careers and a great benefit to Thoma Electric.”
The two registrations give Thoma Electric a total of three California State Registered Engineers in electrical engineering – an impressive number for a firm outside of major metropolitan areas.
Both Koble and Gray graduated from Cal Poly with bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering. To obtain their registration, they each completed an eight-hour engineer-in-training exam, practiced for two years under a professional engineer, received four support letters from professional engineering peers and passed a rigorous eight-hour professional engineering exam.
During their five-year terms at Thoma Electric, both Koble and Gray have played important roles in many of Thoma Electric’s electrical engineering projects. Koble worked on the Hanford Vocational Center project for the College of the Sequoias, the Acquistapace Elementary School project in Santa Maria and the Hanford Public Safety Education Building project, as well as other health care projects at local hospitals. Gray was primary engineer for the San Luis Obispo Mission de Tolosa lighting project, American Principal Bank, Arroyo Grande and Atascadero SESLOC Credit Union branches, the Islamic Center, San Luis Jet Center and Guadalupe Junior High School, as well as several winery projects.
“It’s a rigorous path to take to become a registered electrical engineer,” Thoma said. “Adam and Heather represent a select few new registered electrical engineers in California. They are both very fine engineers and we’re proud to have them on our Thoma team.”
Thoma Electric, a leader in electrical engineering, design and construction based in San Luis Obispo for nearly 50 years, has completed thousands of projects throughout Coastal and Central California and the West Coast.
