Mission San Luis: Finishing Touches Are Under Way

"While the Mission San Luis Obsipo de Tolosa was implementing seismic reinforcement, we added functional and decorative lighting throughout the Church. The entire church system was replaced and upgraded and our goal was achieved when parishioners entered the building stating "the lighting looks like it has always been there." We worked with the architect, historian, blacksmith, owner and structural engineer on the project. A special dimming system allows infinite lighting options. We integrated theatrical and feature lighting equipment at the altar area. And the chandeliers integrated our ideas for "up lighting" the church's decorative ceilings. We commissioned the help of a Solvang-based blacksmith, Hans Duus, who manufactured eight replica chandeliers that looked like those that would have been used in the 1800s. " - Bill Thoma
