Purchasing Agent

Thoma Electric is seeking electrical Purchasing Agent with minimum 5 years industry experience to work as in integral part of our project management team. Duties include:

  • Review construction drawings and specifications to analyze for material options, methods and cost reduction techniques.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure best possible service and value.
  • Prepare written quotes for prospective purchase of switchgear, lighting fixtures & commodities.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with vendors, and issue purchase orders for electrical materials and subcontracted services.
  • Track purchased goods, backorders, and proactively communicate with vendors regarding same.
  • Request and review electrical submittal packages for suitability based on plans and specs.
  • Maintain timely delivery of goods and services to jobsites ensuring maximum job productivity.
  • Review and approve packing slips and supplier invoices to ensure proper filling of orders.
  • Supervise warehouse staff including Buyer, Material Expediter and drivers.
  • Participate in project status meetings with Estimators, Project Managers, Construction Superintendents and others to review status of projects with respect to material and equipment needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will have electrical construction purchasing experience, computer skills including Microsoft Office products, and thorough knowledge of electrical equipment and construction materials including switchgear and lighting fixtures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed along with strong background in procurement techniques, controls and accounting functions. Full time position with benefits. Salary DOE.

Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer

Successful applicants will have good communication skills, plus 10 years of strong project management, design and consulting experience. Position entails design of power distribution, lighting and communication systems for schools, hospitals, commercial, light manufacturing, and industrial facilities. Post-design duties include bidding assistance for clients and construction administration.
