Project Description:

National retailer Best Buy located a store in the Madonna Plaza, a major high-traffic shopping center in San Luis Obispo, Ca. The shopping center includes several other national retailers, a grocery store and several smaller locally-owned retail businesses and restaurants. In November 2002, Thoma Electric constructed the electrical system for the 30,447-sq.-ft. electronics and media store. A project well done, on time and on budget.

Special Feature or Interesting Aspects of Project:

• In-floor custom trench-duct system to distribute modular branch circuiting to all floor fixtures.
• High-bay lighting using modular wiring system.
• Gondola display connections by modular wiring system.
• Electrical power distribution system utilized modular (unitized) switchgear.
• Building was CMU “block” construction.
• Fire alarm system utilized photo-beam detectors and was tied into the security delayed-egress exiting doors.
